Stichting BBR has conducted research on the CBR open data figures from 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Click here for the full article. The passing rate for all Nutheorie candidates from 2018 to 2025 is 83.4%. This sets us far above the national average. Below, you can view the results for the latest year and the total of the past seven years.
During our one-day course, our enthusiastic instructors will guide you through the theory step by step. They will explain it to you in a clear and engaging way, ensuring you understand and retain it well. They use clear language, with plenty of examples and practice questions that resemble the actual exam. This way, you'll know exactly what to expect and take the exam with confidence. The instructors will fully prepare you for the exam and will teach you the knowledge and insights you need to ace your theory exam!
Experience has shown us that those who come to the course well-rested, pay close attention, and actively participate have a very good chance of passing on the first try. In fact, over 83% of our students pass the exam on the first try, while the national average for self-study is around 45%.
With our one-day course:
✅ You really understand the theory after one day
✅ You're learning in a fun and smart way
✅ Your chances of success will increase substantially
✅ You'll enter the exam room with confidence
Before the start of the course: Preparation and arrival
- Start in the morning: The day starts early (usually around 7:00 AM), so you can take the exam the same day after the course. You'll meet at the course location, which is often close to a CBR exam center.
- Preparation: While pre-study isn't required, you can choose to prepare with the online course materials, such as the e-book, video summaries, and practice questions. This makes the course itself easier to follow and increases your chances of passing the exam on the first try.
During the theory course: Intensive, interactive and effective lesson day
- Course content: The theory is explained in a fun, clear and understandable way by experienced course instructors, with room for questions and repetition to allow everything to sink in and be remembered.
- Lots of short breaks: There are four eight-minute breaks throughout the day. During these breaks, you can grab a snack or a drink, use the restroom, or get some fresh air. These short breaks help you stay refreshed and process the information better.
After the course: 🚌 Travel to the CBR and take the exam
- Around 1:30 PM: You'll finish the theory course around 1:30 PM. You can then go to the CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing) yourself, which is usually within walking distance of the course location. If it's a bit further away, a taxi will be arranged to get you there on time.
- Exam preparation: It's helpful to take practice exams before your exam so you can see how you're doing. This will help you catch any mistakes and ensure you don't make them again. This will give you more confidence going into the exam.
- Exam location and preparation: When you arrive at the CBR, you can register for the exam an hour beforehand. Once you've registered, you'll see on the screen what you need to do next. You'll receive instructions on how to put your belongings in a locker. Lockers are available, so you don't have to worry. Once you've put everything away, go to the waiting room and wait to be called for your exam.
After the exam
- Result: You'll receive your results immediately after the exam. If you pass, you can schedule your practical exam with your driving instructor and take your driving test soon!
- Collect items and discuss results: When you're finished, you can retrieve your belongings from the locker. Then, go to the course instructor to discuss your results. This is an opportunity to review how you did and get any tips or advice for next time.
The best thing you can do is prepare thoroughly with the online course materials about a week before the course. Our online course materials include videos, practice questions, an e-book, and practice exams. These briefly explain the theory, so you already have some prior knowledge. By familiarizing yourself with the traffic rules, traffic signs, and basic traffic principles, the theory will be much easier to understand during the course day, and you'll recognize the connections more quickly. You'll also be able to ask more targeted questions and get more out of the explanations.
Experience shows that students who prepare beforehand score significantly better on the theory exam. They feel more confident during the course and the exam and have less difficulty processing the large amount of information in a single day. Did you know that the pass rate with preparation is up to 30% higher than without?
So a little preparation certainly doesn't hurt!

That's why we have bus locations there. Here's how it works:
- You come to the meeting point in your city in the morning.

You'll also receive earplugs so you can have the questions read aloud to you. This exam is often chosen if you have a severe form of dyslexia or other conditions that affect your speed. The extra time and the option to have the questions read aloud give you more time to read the questions, which can be helpful. This exam costs €61.75 at the CBR.
You will take both of the above-mentioned exams on a touchscreen in an exam room.
After passing your CBR theory exam, the result is valid for 1.5 years. This means you must obtain your driving license within this period, otherwise your theory exam will become invalid and you'll have to retake it.
It's important to know that the validity of your theory exam is linked to the date you passed. So, if you passed your theory exam, but it takes too long to schedule and take your practical exam, you'll unfortunately have to retake it.
Yes, absolutely! We have a team that continuously monitors the CBR exam schedule and books exams for our candidates, so that they can take their test as quickly as possible and at a time that fits perfectly with their course day.
To reserve the exam for you, we need an authorization (permission) from you. The CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing) uses a secure system in which only certified driving schools can book an exam on behalf of a candidate. By authorizing us through the CBR, you give us permission to do this for you. This authorization is mandatory and ensures that your personal data remains secure and that there is no risk of identity misuse.
The sooner you authorize us, the sooner we can get started for you.
As soon as the authorization is confirmed, we can immediately look for a suitable exam date. And only after the exam has been reserved can we schedule the course day around it. So, the earlier you authorize, the greater the chance of securing an early exam date.
After your registration, you will receive detailed instructions from us on how to easily arrange this authorization. It only takes a minute – and after that, you don’t need to do anything else. Still having trouble with the authorization? No worries! Just give our Nutheorie customer service a call and we’ll be happy to help you.
If you've booked an exam yourself, you can also take a day course with us. However, we always need to check course availability and which one best suits your exam.
We have 24 course locations throughout the Netherlands.
We'll always discuss the options with you!
That depends on the location:
- Within walking distance of the CBR? Then the course instructor will happily accompany you.
- Is the CBR a bit further away? Then we'll arrange a taxi at our expenses for the entire group, and the course instructor will also join you at the CBR.
We'll make sure you arrive on time for your exam!
In theory, this is possible, but only if a new exam slot is available at the CBR. Due to high demand and limited availability of exams, the chances are very low, and you may risk waiting for months before you can reschedule. This is the CBR policy, and unfortunately, we cannot change that.
Once an exam is scheduled, the costs have already been paid. If the new dates you want are not available, the exam cannot be canceled free of charge.
It is advisable to schedule your practical driving test as soon as possible after passing your theory exam. If you wait too long, you run the risk that your theory certificate expires and you will have to retake it. The sooner you plan your driving test, the sooner you can obtain your driver’s license.
After passing your theory exam, you can choose a driving school yourself through the CBR website, where you can also directly schedule your practical exam. It is recommended to select a driving school with good references that can guide you properly towards taking your driving test.
You must be at least 16 years old to take a car theory exam. You can schedule your practical exam after you have passed your theory. You can take your practical exam at the CBR from the age of 17. If you pass your practical exam before your 18th birthday, you can drive with a coach.
You must be at least 17 years old to take a motorcycle theory exam. The theory exam is required before you can start your practical motorcycle exams. You must be at least 18 years old to take your practical exams.
You must be at least 15.5 years old for a scooter theory exam. If you have passed your theory, you can also start driving lessons and take your practical exam from the age of 16.
Also make sure you have a DigiD, because you will need it to schedule your theory and practical exam.
Our one-day course currently costs €99,-. This includes:

You'll also receive practice questions, practice exams, and an e-book to help you work independently and ace your exam!

A standard exam is €48.75
An extended exam is €61.75
We often recommend having us book your exam for you, as we ensure it aligns well with the day course. In addition, our team monitors the CBR exams 24/7, which often allows us to book a date more quickly.
The date indicated is a preferred date. As soon as we can schedule you on this date, you will receive a message from us with all the course information and a request to pay the remaining balance. Only then is the date confirmed and official.
It is possible that your preferred time is not available. In that case, we will first wait to see if it becomes available or schedule another time for you when exams are available.
That is why we ask you to select multiple dates so that we can take your preferences into account as much as possible. However, there is a chance that you will be scheduled outside of your preferred days. This is to prevent you from having to wait months for your turn. (If this date is inconvenient, you can call our customer service to discuss the options.)
We always depend on the CBR for exams. This applies not only to us, but to all companies and individuals in the Netherlands who want to book an exam. The advantage for us is that we continuously monitor availability, so we can respond faster.
To prepare for our day course, you'll receive immediate access to our online course materials after registering. You can watch our summary videos, read the e-book, complete practice questions, and take practice exams. This will give you plenty of preparation, allowing you to get used to our teaching methods and feel more confident before taking the exam.
You'll receive your login details by email, and then you can practice on our website www.nutheorie.nl!
